Our Preventative Heart Health Package with a Coronary CT Angiogram enables us to see if you have noncalcified plaque that is more likely to rupture than calcified plaque.

Coronary CT Angiogram

A Coronary CT Angiogram creates images of the arteries of the heart (coronary arteries) to evaluate for heart disease. It is performed with a CT scanner. Contrast is given in the arm. Medications are also administered to optimize visualization of the coronary arteries. Cardia Vision, LLC. has one of the fastest CT scanners available. It creates beautiful, diagnostic images of the coronary arteries. We are able to see very early and advanced stages of atherosclerosis.

Preventative Heart Health Package

The Preventative Heart Health Package includes a Coronary CT Angiogram, Calcium Score, Consultation with Board-Certified Cardiovascular Radiologist Dr. Kimberly Brockenbrough and a Cardiology Referral, if needed.

The Coronary CT Angiogram illustrates both noncalcified (potentially vulnerable) and calcified atherosclerotic plaque of the heart blood vessels (coronary arteries). If a person has noncalcified atherosclerotic plaque it is important to treat it with lipid lowering medications such as statins and PCSK9 inhibitors.  The LOCATE study shows that higher doses of lipid lowering medications more effectively reduce noncalcified (potentially vulnerable) atherosclerotic plaque of the coronary arteries. This can reduce the risk for a heart attack or death.

The Calcium Score illustrates calcified atherosclerotic plaque.  Often the calcium score will go up with effect lipid lowering therapy.  At Cardia Vision, we often see patients with calcium scores of zero have mild noncalcified atherosclerotic plaque of the coronary arteries.  Some have moderate noncalcified atherosclerotic plaque with a calcium score of zero.

The Consultation with Dr. Kimberly Brockenbrough allows patients and their families to see the images of their heart at the time of the examination. She will talk with the patient about their history and provide an individualized opinion and preliminary diagnosis based on over 25 years of imaging blood vessels.

Cardia Vision recommends the Preventative Heart Health Package for the indications below.

  • Men at 50 years old and older
  • Women at 60 years old and older
  • 10 years younger for people at high risk of Coronary Artery Disease such as those with a family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, prediabetes, high blood pressure, smokers, and first responders
  • If a first degree relative has early heart disease, we recommend patients obtain the Preventative Heart Health Package 10 years prior to when their family member was diagnosed.  For example, if your father received a stent at 48 years old, you should consider getting the Preventative Heart Heath Package at 38 years old.

The Preventative Heart Health Package costs $1499.
